Hengshui University, located in Hengshui city, Hebei province, is a full-time institution of higher learning approved by the Ministry of Education.
 
The University was formerly known as No. 6 Normal school, which was founded in 1923. In 1949, it was rebuilt as Hebei Normal school. Approved by The State Council in 1978, Hengshui Normal college was established on the basis of Hengshui Normal school. May 17, 2004, upgraded to Hengshui University.

According to the official website of the university, in May 2017, the campus covers an area of 321,000 square meters, with a floor space of 338,000 square meters, a total fixed asset of 530 million RMB, and a collection of 1.07 million printed books. Hengshui University has 13 secondary colleges, 6 public teaching departments and 45 undergraduate programs, which are divided into 9 disciplines. There are 743 full-time teachers and more than 11,000 full-time students, including 11,025 undergraduates, 859 college students and 651 correspondence students.
