Xi'an Technological University, is located in the ancient capital of Xi 'an, a famous historical city in the world, the university is the only teaching and research featured university by ordnance Engineering in northwest China with coordinated development of multiple disciplines. It is one of the seven undergraduate universities directly under the ministry of ordnance industry of the People's Republic of China. It is jointly built by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, China Weapons Industry Group, China Weapons Equipment Group and Shaanxi Provincial Government. It is selected as the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan 2.0" by the Ministry of Education in Colleges and Universities, the National "New Engineering Research and Practice Project" in colleges and universities, and the pilot universities of comprehensive innovation ability training for college students in Shaanxi Province.The university is a national secondary confidentiality qualification unit, is a national defense research university "military and civilian integration, military in the civilian".
 
The university was founded in 1955, formerly known as Xi 'an Second Industrial School. It is a military supporting project in 156 key construction projects of the National "First Five-Year Plan", with distinctive military characteristics.
 
As of September 2018, Weiyang campus and Jinhua campus cover an area of 1200 mu, with 14 teaching units and 54 undergraduate majors. There are 3 post-doctoral research stations, 3 first-level disciplines of doctor's degree authorization, 15 first-level disciplines of master's degree authorization, 6 categories of professional master's degree authorization, and 20 fields of professional degree authorization. Five national defense specialty disciplines; One national teaching team, two national comprehensive professional reform pilot projects, and one national experimental demonstration center; There are more than 1,800 faculty and staff, more than 2,000 full-time doctoral and master's students, and about 18,000 undergraduates.
