Shaanxi University Of Science & Technology is located at Xi'an，is the only multi-disciplinary university featured by light industry in western China. It is jointly built by China Federation of Light Industry, China Light Industry Group Corporation and Shaanxi Provincial Government.
Included in the pilot universities "Outstanding Engineers Plan", the Ministry of Education, National First "New Engineering Project" research and practice in universities, the Ministry of Education "Internet + 2025" made in China to produce the first pilot colleges and universities teaching fusion promotion plan and Shaanxi Province to deepen reform of creative education demonstration of colleges and universities.

Founded in 1958 in Beijing, it was then known as Beijing Institute of Light Industry. In 1970, it moved to Xianyang, Shaanxi and was renamed Northwest Institute of Light Industry. In 1978, it became a national key university. In 1998, it was renamed Shaanxi University of Science and Technology in 2002.
As of September 2018, the three campuses of Xi 'an Weiyang, Taihua Road and Xianyang cover a total area of 2055 mu, with 13 second-level departments and 58 undergraduate majors. There are 3 post-doctoral research stations, 4 first-level disciplines doctor's degree authorization, and 18 first-level disciplines master's degree authorization, ranking the top 1% in the world in material science ESI. There are more than 1,200 full-time teachers, more than 21,000 full-time students, among which nearly 3,000 are doctoral students.
