Founded in 1839, the University of Chester is one of the oldest comprehensive public universities in Britain. It was originally an educational institution established by the church of England to train teachers, and it is also the first normal higher education institution in Britain. Now it has nearly 20,000 students. The University of Chester is located in the small but beautiful city of Chester in northwest England, less than an hour from Liverpool and Manchester.
