Founded in 1927, University of Hull is located in downtown Hull (the British City of Culture 2017), a port city on the east coast of England. It is the 14th traditional national university in UK to become an independent university.
 
The University of Hull is a famous university in the UK, world-renowned, and the birthplace of the industrialization of liquid crystal display materials in the world. In 2014, it was selected as the best overseas university by Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange(CSCSE), and won the highest award in higher technology in UK—Queens Award and National Historic Chemical Landmark from the Royal Society of Chemistry. Its School of business has received a dual AASCB, AMBA certification(only 5% of the world's university business schools are accredited). It is also one of the UK's top universities in employment, ranking ninth.
 
University of Hull's main campus is a ten-minute bus ride from the city centre, about two-and-a-half hours by train from downtown London and two hours from Manchester. At present, the university has about 16,300 students, including more than 2,000 international students from more than 100 countries. And its well-equipped, fully computerized library contains nearly a million books, as well as a large number of periodicals, newspapers, microfilms and other modern reference materials. Meanwhile, it is one of the top 5% universities in the world, ranking 401-500 by TIMES World University Rankings 2019, 591-600 by QS World University Rankings 2019 and 793 by CWTR 2018.
